This is one of the eight gates of the medieval enclosure, a few rows of rusticated stones of which can be seen a few steps to the right. From here, you enter a maze of narrow streets and vaulted passageways.

The town, first settled between the Pont Vieux and the Place du Marché, expanded on this side, north of the abbey walls, in the second half of the 13th century.
